Honoring Cherokee heritage and fostering a harmonious coexistence between human and wildlife populations
At Overhill Cherokee Wildlife Foundation, we are dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and protection of the natural world, honoring Cherokee heritage and fostering a harmonious coexistence between human and wildlife populations. Our mission is to safeguard the delicate balance of ecosystems in East Tennessee, working diligently to restore and conserve the rich biodiversity that defines our region.
Through a commitment to scientific research, community education, and active engagement, we aim to be stewards of the land, air, and water. We strive to ensure the perpetuation of the region’s Cherokee heritage by protecting the wildlife and habitats that have been cherished for generations.
We have a vision of a future network of aiding wildlife in the vast resources of the area along The Little Tennessee River basin. This vision includes planting large food plots for many different species of wildlife, designing cover with native species of plants, and providing animals nesting boxes and safe areas to allow for species to thrive in this ever shrinking loss of all living things. The mission of OCWF is action based principles for wildlife conservation.
It is the duty of humanity and the purpose of OCWF to take action in protecting and fostering the stewardship of the species that are declining in alarming numbers. Without your support, it is an inevitable that future generations will lose the ability to enjoy creation to its fullest. OCWF will use your donations to support state and local government programs, other organizations committed to wildlife enhancement and university studies in providing support for creating environments for wildlife to flourish.
